It's the button that operates the pedestrian access to a crosswalk.

Congratulations,Kevin.Absolutely correct.
It's your turn to lead us on a quest into the unknown.

It looks like part of a magnetic door latch. The part we are looking at is attached to a wall.

Some types of magnetic latch are connected to fire doors, and will release the fire doors when the alarm is sounded.

Sent from my iPad 1 using iPF - Greetings

Sorry,Richard.Wrong answer. It's the walk light button at a pedestrian crosswalk.

Since KevinJS has not posted his challenge within the 2 hour time limit,I declare the challenge open to any IPF member who would like to post a challenge.

It's a little more sophisticated than that. It has interchangeable lenses, viewfinders and film magazines.
It comes from the land of ABBA.

Is is a Hasselblad V series camera?

These cameras are hand made in Sweden.
While expensive compared to mass produced cameras, photo enthusiasts say a well maintained unit will operate for a lifetime.

The design looks old school because it is. Having hardly changed since the 1950s. Parts and accessories for Hasselblad's are always in stock.

Hasselblad’s classic mechanical camera (V) series is still produced, but the company is aware that it's the 21st century and is now focusing on a (H) series of camera, which are fully electronic.

How am I doing ? :)

Very good. You nailed the answer!
This particular camera is the 500CM.

Hassleblad was chosen by NASA as the still camera for surface photography during the lunar landing missions.
Your turn to take the helm,Admiral.
