What's new

What is it?

This camera was one of the first commercially successful 35mm cameras manufactured in quantity. The company's roots go back to 1845 and for many years they were a respected manufacturer of microscopes and other optical devices. This was their first 35mm camera.

Is it the Leica A - manufactured 1925 -36? It was the first commercially successful 35 mm camera. More than 57,000 A's were made. Film for the camera had to be hand loaded from long 35mm rolls.

Thanks. This may be difficult because what you're viewing, is not familiar to most people. But let's try and I'll be liberal with clues.

You can rule out fire hydrant off the bat. The devices shown have nothing to do with fire suppression.

They can be used separately or when required, together. Usually two are used together. In the case of the red one's size does matter.

Good Luck

No fluid is involved. But they are part of a system of conduits. What you see in the image represents only a fraction of what's not visible.

Here's another view of the housing that involves power.

They look like data connections. Are these connectors located in a TV studio and would they be used for supplying power to,and receiving signals from, television cameras.

That is precisely what they do.

The silver unit is the power coupling.
The large red housing holds receptacles for multiple audio / video feeds.
The small red one provides the connection for a production return feed (to monitor both audio and visual) from the set.

By locating these terminals building wide, every location can be transformed into a set. Useful when producing live programs with many elements or, for recording segments that may be disruptive to other shooting taking place at the same time.

Well done.

Over to you sir.
