Lol Definitely not always true. Around midnight, it's a more or less silent scream for sleep. :)

We've just been on the beach......the sun is unusual today, it's surrounded by a ring.....I've never seen it like this before.

Happens fairly often when there is a light haze or fog in the sky. You can have double, or rarely, triple rings. If you look closely you'll see they are actually rainbows, and caused pretty much the same way.

A light cloud cover can do it as well, though the rings are less noticeable due to the less contrasty background.

A bright moon can have rings as well, if the conditions are right.

I admit, yours is one the the most perfectly formed, round and clear, that I've seen.

Thank you twerppoet ...... It was a beautiful sight and lasted well over an hour and I could see the rainbow colours all around it. I took that photo with my mini, here's another taken from my iPhone 5 at least a half hour earlier. Quite different colours.

Hayley.....we're having too much sun ATM and from what I'm hearing, you guys could sure do with some right now!

Just finding it hard to believe how cold it is for you Sci...... I've just never experienced those types of temps before.

You'll need all our sun and more. ;)
