In short and without the tech jargon. It basically improves the picture quality of standard definition stuff like TV or your old DVDs or games.

So it's similar to the technology built into most BluRay machines to "up convert" standard DVD
images for viewing on HD displays?

Exactly, only far better at up converting and, well, also more expensive to I admit :)

I have some retro games consoles and I'm just looking to improve how they look.

Went to the post office, returned some holiday gifts, took the Christmas tree and decorations down, cleaning, had a bowl of pea soup and now taking a break!! :)

Watching TV: the documentary about the NASA-missions, "When we left earth". It's a series, right now the part about Hubble is shown. It's a great documentary. But I have to watch it in German. Looking forward to getting the DVDs. I read the narrator is Gary Sinise in English. :-D

Have you watched the dramatic recreation of the Apollo 13 mission, called "Apollo 13"?

Gary Sinise is one of the stars. Another excellent actor - Ed Harris - plays the part of Eugene "Gene" Kranz, then Mission Flight Director.

As Hollywood recreations go - this is one of the good ones.

It's available thru iTunes for rental or purchase.
