What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

Oh thanks Kevin. I've gone onto sky news and some of the scenes look horrendous. Some parts are lightening. I see an electricity transformer/station blew up. That crane still looks lethal.

On the positive side, it looks like lessons were learned from Katrina, and applied.

There will still have to be a huge cleanup, but the loss of life will be minimal compared to New Orleans. It appears that the evacuation was a lot better organised and conducted.

Good. It looks like the New Yorkers will be helping in the clear up. A lot of the people are very blasé. Reminds me of the riots in London where the Londoners were all helping to clean up the mess with their brooms.

Ah. That sounds good. I see The Great Lakes are suffering 18-22 ft high waves and winds of 55 - 70 mph. There could be substantial flooding south from there.

Update.

More than 50 homes in Queens are destroyed by fire. People are being rescued even though they were told to get out. Stupid. This was zone A. Atlantic city's famous boardwalk has been destroyed. Don't know how much of it is gone. The whole city is underwater.

Lets hope death toll stays at 13 but I'm afraid this will rise due to not listening to the authorities.

Update. 16 people dead. The New York University back up generators are down so they are evacuating patients out of there. Lets hope they are okay.

It is almost on apocalyptic proportions. Poor people.

I tried contacting my niece in Fort Wayne on Facebook. No contact. I will try in a couple of hours' time.

The early morning news stories look grim, property wise. However only 13 people have lost their lives; the toll could have been far worse.

I expect you guys won't be able to post anything until you have power restored.

Our power has been off and on last nigh and early this morning. We have 100's of schools closed as a result of the power outages. Halloween will be the same type of weather for the poor kiddies.

A friend was joking that his kid should dress up as Hurricane Sandy. He said he'd stick branches and debris all over him.

That would be a very easy costume to make with all the broken branches there is!!

There's a thought!

Kids don't seem to have imagination anymore.

They use digital devices for that now! I used to play on the farm with my two brothers, swim in the dam and ride the horses. We had to share the two saddles between 4 horses. My brother learnt to ride bareback. Those were the days. We had to run a generator for the small tv we had and the oven. You had to make your own entertainment. We played games!! Shock horror. Monopoly, kerplunk, cards, scrabble etc...
