However when I connected my iPad to the mac I got the message in the picture which did not happen with the phone. I got uncomfortable and cancelled the syncing the iPad to the mac as I don't want to screw up, both devices sync with windows iTunes without gremlins

Silly question.....but have you authorised this computer in iTunes?

That's what I thought, but the grey out area is unresponsive. I cannot tick or unstick anything. So weird

Okay, it's the same, 1st picture I cancel as I don't want iOS 6, how about the 2nd picture, I am worried if all the telephone details disappear as I am not confident about the migration. Thanks Gabriel. I am assuming your migration wasnt painful at all

Gosh Ricky. This looks like when my windows laptop was restored to factory settings. I had to unauthorise the computers and re- authorise. That worked.
I think I just took the plunge and sacrificed certain apps. Did you backup both devices first?

yes i did, i am tempted to use the ipad as an guinea pic and see what happens, and leave the phone on the windows itunes for safety.

See I never got this with the iphone, but did with the iPad, the 2 devices react differently to the mac iTunes. I am going to use the iPad as a guinea pig and see how it goes
