Syncing google calendars with ipad

Hi, first post so please be gentle with me! I'm struggling to get my iPad calendar app to sync properly with my google calendar. The basic parts of the calendar show ok but additional google calendar add-ins like holidays and sports events don't show. I've read other threads here about syncing multiple calendars but I can' t seem to make it work. Any thoughts please? Cheers!
