Hello! Welcome to iPF! Have a good time here!

Afaik, it's not possible to work with those documents on computers.

You can work directly with iWorks documents on a computer in two ways.

One: If you own a Mac running the most recent version of OS X, you can use the OS X versions of the iWorks app. You get them in the Mac App Store (not the App Store). Both the computer and the iPad have to have the apps set to work with the same iCloud account for automatic updating. Otherwise you'll have to copy them back and forth manually.

If you do not have a Mac, you can still do some editing online by going to the icloud.com site. Again, the iOS iWorks apps must have iCloud turned on in their settings. The icloud.com site does not offer all (or even most) of the features of the Mac and iOS version of iWorks.

If you need more details, let us know.

Hi rowena, welcome to iPF!

If you use a PC, the first thing you'll have to do to be able to work on these files, would be to save them as .docx and .xlsx. This can be done on the iPad itself, in Pages and Numbers.

With the file open, tap the "Share" button:

These two options are important. If you choose "Open in another app", the next page will show this:

Select "Word". Next screen that'll appear, is this one:

Here you choose the app where you open it on your iPad. If you select an app that syncs between iOS and Windows, such as OneDrive, Dropbox, .... you can open the file on your PC afterwards.

The other possibility would be to send an email to yourself and open the file on your computer. Also start with the same button, but this time select "Send a Copy". This will show up next:

You choose "Mail" and again get the option to send it as Word/Excel file:

The next page will show you the email with it's content. All you have to do now is to enter your email address (a different one than your default address) and send it to yourself:

Hope that helps.

. . .

That works too.

I just noticed that Rowena is in Australia. The iCloud iWorks apps (beta) may not be available there yet.

I suppose they are available. If Austria has got them, most of the other countries can use them as well. :-)
In that case your suggestion would be easier. I forgot about that, because I rarely use my PC since I have an iPad.

Thanks.

I was in a hurry, and my quick search only showed results for the the beta of iWorks in the cloud; which was only available in the U.S.. I was fairly sure we were past that after iOS 7, but decided to hedge my bet with the disclaimer.
