Problem using a mouse with iPadOS 26.

I have an ‘issue’ with using a mouse ( either Bluetooth or USB) with my iPad Pro (3rd gen) and iPadOS 26 when using Apple News, and I’m wondering whether I’m doing something wrong or have a setting wrong.

My mouse has a ‘scroll wheel’ which works perfectly when scrolling up or down on all other apps except when viewing any news article on Apple News. On the main news page I can scroll up and down the page ok, but as soon as I select a news article, I can scroll DOWN the page, but when I try to scroll UP it closes the article and jumps back to the main page.

I’ve tried this with both Sky News and BBC news and it works correctly, and works properly on all forum pages that I use. Apple News is the only app that seems to have a problem.

Could anyone help by trying it out for me on their device, and letting us know on here, before I raise it as an issue on ‘Feedback’.

i don't have the devices to test it, but I'd just go ahead and submit it to the feedback app. You're on the beta, so Apple is looking for this kind of feedback. Especially on edge cases like this,

Thanks, I went ahead and reported it anyway, I was just interested to see if I’d missed a setting somewhere but it looks like it is probably a bug, so let’s see what happens.

Yes, it can be quite useful. I find it easier using a bluetooth wireless mouse than having to use a usb dongle with a usb mouse as that takes up the usb power socket which makes charging while using a mouse difficult. Also some of the mouse options are a bit obscure to find in the settings.
By the way, the problem I highlighted above is still there although I did report it with the ‘Feedback’ app.

Yeah! It works fine using the trackpad on my Magic Keyboard as well, but I’m using my older iPad Pro on my bedside table with a bluetooth mouse and that will scroll downwards in ANY Apple News story, but refuses to scroll upwards and just closes the story. You can then scroll both up and down in the main story list no problem.
I’ve also tried different mice (mouses?) and they all show the same fault.
However if you use your finger on the screen to scroll upwards, then that works fine.

True, but it doesn’t explain why Apple News is the only app it doesn’t work with. It works fine in other Apple apps also.
