No image using HDMI Cable

Just came back from store with lead very excited about watching whats on my Ipad on TV using an HDMI cable but its not working
The sound is perfect but theres no image.
Tried on both of our Sony Tvs but same result on both.

Can anyone help make my day?! Maybe settings on the tv or Ipad?

Still no advice that makes any sense to me :-(

Have you tried turning the cable end-for-end? Some of them seem to be directional & work much better one way than the other.
