I also had one DVD that Catalyst couldn't process successfully... The Cold Light of Day. Only Aiseesoft Total Media Converter Platinum was able to rip it.

It's useful to have more than one ripper on your PC, for such occasions. The Giveaway of the Day site regularly has such programs available for free download.

I would shoot for DVD Catalyst as well. Works fantastic for conversions and looks great on the Ipad. And I can use Itunes to easily transfer to Ipad too.
