Landscape vs. portrait

I just updated the iPad and since I am not very good with computer stuff, I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I hope someone can help me. I am no longer able to view my programs in landscape mode. My app page shows in landscape mode, but as soon as the program opens, it switches to portrait, no matter how I hold the iPad. What am I doing wrong?

Just downloaded IOS 7 on my ipad and iphone5. Had same problem.
Try this;
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen
The top row of icons all the way to the right should have a padlock with an arrow rotated around it.
By touching this icon you can lock and unlock your screen orientation.
Worked for me, good luck
