i do mean 'the world'. As you say '... the best selling products on the planet' - there is no doubt about that.

Why simply get a iPad 3 when you can always get a New iPad !

They are just falling in line with their other products.

I dont here anyone complaning that the new Apple TV doesnt have a number in the name....

Apple has a set number of products that they offer and each year they upgrade each model. You refer to the specific model you have by the year you purchased it. If they just added numbers to each product name each year it would start to sound silly after a while.

They may shift the iPhone over to this naming convention with the rest of their products. You would have the new iPhone not iPhone 5. Its just like how they dont call the new iPod Touch somethig like an iPod Touch 5
