Dear Folks - I just joined this morning. I am a 61 year old retired special education teacher. I bought a refurbished
iPad 2 with 64gig and both wifi and 3G, since I wanted access to all my music, photos, and pretty much everything
else on my laptop on a much more portable device.

Since I am in every way "old school", as they say, I need an easy-to-understand "how-to" forum. My latest dilemma
is finding out how to put all of my email accounts (non-Apple) on the iPad; (i.e. Yahoo, AOL, G-mail, etc) so that I
can write emails from here rather than having to revert to the iPhone or the laptop. Any help, either public or private would be greatly appreciated.

The other immediate question is regarding manipulating MS Office documents on the iPad. The two alternatives I
have explored are "Documents To Go", and another program I can't remember the name of, but seems to use
Google Docs and a Drop Box. Does anybody have opinions either way as to the better of these two options, at least
until MS Office itself is offered for the iPad? All the best as I explore my new purchase... - Janet Baernstein

Hi Janet--Welcome to the forum!

Regarding setting up your emails on your ipad, it is fairly easy to do. I am going to send you to links that you can refer to. One being from Apple support and the other for Google email. Not sure what email server you use, so I figured I would throw that one in.

iOS: Setting up an email account

Regarding word docs, I use Pages that does not allow for using Dropbox. However, I do use dropbox and works really well when sharing pictures with others who do not have the app or an ipad. I have also dropped docs from the dropbox app on my PC and once my ipad connected to internet-it automatically synced those docs for availability there.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the email advice! I am so happy with my iPad purchase!
I'm surprised at how much I am using it - I am more comfortable than I thought I'd be with the
Weird touch keyboard. Since I have little fat fingers, I thought that I'd spend all my time correcting
My typing errors , but I'm doing pretty well. I still get testy when it auto-corrects a word incorrectly,
but thankfully that hasn't become a big issue.

Oh! The word processing program I was trying to think of was "Pages" - I had a copy on my laptop already, but I
had forgotten that I could save a page written in that program as a Word file - very convenient!!!
I'm looking forward to hearing from other folks. How do people who own iPad 2's especially, feel about whether
or not to upgrade to the 3?

Great to hear that you got your email worked out! Enjoy your iPad, Janet!
