Jailbreaking ????

Hi, I am new to the forum and I got my iPad 2 two weeks ago. I see mention of "jailbreaking an iPad, what is that and does it void the warrenty ? Also I have heard that if the battery goes bad it costs over a hundred dollars to get it replaced. My car battery didn't cost that much !!!!!! This sounds like a bit of Apple price gouging to me. Does any one else feel that way ??

Unfortunately, there is no jailbreak for the iPad2 yet, but it is in the works.
