There has been a way to downgrade both the iPad2 WiFi only and the iPad2 with 3G for weeks now. This downgrade is possible if you are on iOS 4.3.4 or 4.3.5. See this tutorial: http://www.ipadforums.net/jailbreaking-hacking-tutorials-how-guides/40887-tutorial-restore-your-ipad-using-tinyumbrella-shsh-blobs.html

---BUT---

You must - repeat, MUST! - have saved your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.3. If you have not saved those blobs, you cannot downgrade to iOS 4.3.3.

I've removed the link to the above as these links (and downgrade/jail breaking tutorials) are readily available in this Hacking section

There are reasons why it requires a forum member to have four posts before being able to post links...

Are you sure you can downgrade iPad2 3G using shsh blobs? I always thought that you can't do this because apple updates baseband with each update and you can't save blobs for baseband. Could anybody explain. Thanks.

The gentleman who created Tiny Umbrella did something to his program to allow iPad2 3G owners to be able to downgrade to 4.3.3 (off of both 4.3.4 and 4.3.5) as long as they had SHSH blobs for 4.3.3. What he did is way over my head, but it was a reprieve for the 3G owners.

See this thread for more detail: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/39518-ipad-2-4-3-x-respite.html

Apple didn't update the baseband between 4.3.3, 4.3.4, and 4.3.5. It is identical. So while you are correct, Apple missed a trick. They could have prevented everyone from restoring if only they had bumped the version number of the baseband when they bumped the version number of IOS....

Thanks! So that means if apple won't change baseband version of the 4.3.6, we could downgrade even from 4.3.6 or any newer version? Right?

Yes, provided they don't update the baseband. But as soon as they do, then everyone with an iPad2 is stuck on the version of IOS they have installed no matter what blobs they have saved.
None of us know what Apple will do. It is unlikely there will be a 4.3.6 unless a security flaw is identified between now and the public release of IOS5.
