I think you'll have more luck with the headphones than finding a tweak to increase your volume.

One good thing about the playbook is that its speakers are on the front of the tablet, on the bezel. That way the sound is traveling toward you.

Your only other option would be a pair of external Bluetooth speakers, I use wifi speakers when I'm pumping music round the house and they are loud as hell! Just make sure they have volume control on them.
