Is the IPAD safer for banking then your PC?

With all the viruses and other nasties out there you can never be sure your PC or even Mac is safe to use for online banking. Even if your software is secure a simple hardware key logger physically installed could get all your stuff.

So I was thinking with no windows operating system and no way to get to it physically without you noticing and it is such a small target for virus writers (not as many around as PCs)

Would it be safer to use the IPad for my online banking? What do you think?

The logic is really very sound, yeah. Good idea.

It sounds like a lot of banks need to tweak for the iPad though. I'm hearing rumblings that lots of banking sites aren't working well.

It is safer than a PC, but most ripoffs are due to mistakes people make with fraudulent e-mails.

I've used a PC for years for bill paying and banking, never one problem.... I now do everything on my iPad, simply because I don't use my computer much anymore!

But, I do think it would be safer.....

I use my iphone in Australia with safari to access 2 banks to check funds, pay bills and transfer monies and have not had any issues. I would suspect the same with the ipad as its the same OS . For a while in Australia some banks would not even accept safari they wanted windows only browsers but that has all changed now well at least here.

That would depend on how secure you wireless connection is, and the sorts of transactions you perform, and where.

yes it can be safer, but remember that you still have to make sure your on their official website.

and its a good idea to use vpn encryption if your not on your own private network.

Due to the nature of the iPhone OS I would expect banks to come out with their own apps for client access.
