Ipad has stopped connecting to the internet

Hi I have an original ipad which was working fine. Now it takes forever to connect to the internet or won't connect at all. I have re-created the network several times etc by choosing "forget network".....any suggestions?

Try holding down your home button and the power button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.

Let it reboot ~ see if that helps.

*** Please help me***.. I have an ipad2 Wi-Fi + 3G and initially the 3G service worked perfectly. Yesterday I noticed that when I went into settings and clicked on Cellular Data I didn't have the option to view my account anymore and in the carrier space where AT&T goes it said unavailable. After that I tried to log on to Safari but all I received was an error stating "the server had timed out." I was going to restore it on my iMac but when I hooked it up to be restored I received an error that stated "iPad Update Server is unavailable." I then tried to restore it on a PC but I received the same error. If any has any ideas on how to solve this problem I would be eternally grateful...
