Hi, my ipad 1 stopped working a few days ago. It only shows the apple logo when I put it on. Does this mean it has crashed? Please help!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

This happened to me once also, I don't know why. What I did was hold in the power button, which is the button at the top of your iPad and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in until the Apple logo appears, this could take up to 25 seconds. Once it does your iPad should then start up and this could take up to that long again. Let us know how you go.

Really sorry to be a bother. I had checked the responses from the community earlier and had found that I could reset which is what you have asked me to do. Unfortunately it didn't work. The truth is that I was charging my ipad and slept off. When I woke up, I saw the apple logo on the screen and upon shutting down and powering, the same apple logo comes on. I tried pressing the home button and the power button by the side like you suggested. The apple logo comes on after about 5 seconds and remains on screen until I shut it down. When its shut down and I put in the charger, the same apple logo comes on. What do I do?

It isn't a bother at all, that's why we are here. This is something new to me so I'm at a loss to explain it. It is a stock iPad isn't it, I mean it wasn't jail broken was it? I do know that sometimes it will take more than 1 reset to rectify a problem. I'm hoping someone else who knows more will chime in here or it may mean a trip to your local Apple store.

Hi Emeso,

There was an earlier post by another member with a similar problem like your's. Take a look to see if whether your ipad is in reacting the same way as his.

One of our Moderators, Rambler, thought that the OP's iPad was in DFU mode. I am not familiar with the jailbreak process and/or whether your iPad is jail broken.

As Leelai stated, maybe some more info will give us a better idea as to what is happening.

U
nfortunately, the member did contact Apple support and will be getting a replacement. However, I am wondering if this is your case.

Good luck.
