According to a new survey from analytics firm Flurry, the Android platform has been suffering a loss in developer interest due to a renewed surge in popularity for iOS, thanks mainly to the advent this year of the iPad 2 and the Verizon iPhone 4. 9to5 Mac reports that according to Flurry’s figures, many, many more development projects are starting up on iOS than they are on Android, with Android’s new project starts falling from 36% in Q1 2011 to 28% in Q2. Flurry says that its figures show a second quarter-over-quarter drop in developer support for Android, a sudden downturn after the platform enjoyed “significant, steady growth†throughout 2010, which peaked at 39% in Q4.

Flurry posits that there are two main reasons for Google’s reversal of fortune – the iPad and the Verizon iPhone 4. Developers seem to have been enticed away from Android to concentrate on the iPad by its massive sales figures, all those millions of customers waiting to buy their apps, they hope, and often more expensive apps, at that. As for the Verizon iPhone 4, Flurry says that it gave customers more options than they had when there was only an AT&T iPhone available: where once they might have opted for an Android phone, now they had a Verizon iPhone to choose from. Subsequently, according to Flurry, “the pendulum appears to have swung back more in favour of iPhone over Android development.â€

The graphic says "Furry" so does the data have to do with those people that like to dress like animals?
