What's new

IOS5 release confirmed for 12th October

So it should be available at 6pm in the uk... I can't wait to try it all out :-)

Im australian and it available to download NOW !!! im stickin with 4.3.3 though until a jailbreak for iOS5

Just curious about 'major' Apple iOS version upgrades, i.e. going from 4.x to 5.0 - usually w/ PC upgrades, I've not liked being the first 'kid on the block' w/ a *.0 version, just seems to be potentially 'buggy' and often wait for a few minor updates.

So (and I know the 'new' features of iOS 5), is the best choice to 'jump in' immediately and upgrade to iOS 5 or wait a few weeks to see what revisions might appear - just curious what the experienced Apple pros here have to say? Thanks - :)

I will wait...also need to assess what jb features I will be giving up against new ios5 features.

Any idea what time on 12th iOS 5 will be available for download in India? Also does one have to synch with pc through iTunes, or can we download ios5 by wifi directly?

Sorry don't know what time it will release there. First of all download the latest ITunes to your PC, then connect your iPad and do a backup. iTunes should tell you when there is the new upgrade. When it becomes available do the upgrade. You will then have to restore from backup. I heard it's best to then do a reboot of the iPad after installation. Good luck. Sure is getting exciting though

Anybody else getting an error message when you try to sync with iTunes. It says it can't back-up because a session could not be started.

How do i back and restore everything?

If I were you, I'd wait a few hours with the update about to arrive anytime now, then iTunes will guide you through the whole process :-)
