Hi there...have a look in your settings to see what email you have listed to receive and send iMessages.

Go to Settings > iMessages > Send & receive ...

...check to see what you have set there.

Also, make sure that your iMessage is turned "ON" when on that page. See the pic:

I am moving this to the help section.

@skimonKey. Thanks. But when I navigated to settings and then to message, I didn't find the option to turn on or off, neither did I find the option for send/receive. I only found the option to enter apple ID and password.

That's really strange that you don't see what I see on my iPad. Can you take a screen shot?

Owomano--I edited your pic to remove your email, I doing so the pic came out a bit blurry. However, I see what you mean. Do you by chance have any other apple IDs that you use? Do you have your restrictions on? Also, have you tried to do a reset of your iPad? Sometimes, that immediate fix can help it jump start solving the problem.

To do a reset is to hold down the power button and the home button at the same time, until the iPad shuts off.

You may even want to do a reset from your settings:

Settings>general>RESET ALL SETTINGS. If you do this, you will need to log in again on all things that require it.

Please, I just remembered that when I first bought my iPad, I didn't av an apple ID so the person that set up my iPad used his apple ID. I tried logging on with that ID and it worked. Now how do I use my own ID? I don't want to use the persons ID. I wanna use mine.

Oh...that makes sense than...I knew something wasn't right.

If you have been using his Apple ID and password for any apps, you will need to continue using that when apps bought under that account needs updating.

Regarding the iMessage...you have to sign in with one designated apple ID. So it will have to be your friends when you log in for iMessage. However, once you do that...you can than change your send/receive email to make it yours.

Yes...I have set up different emails for your send/receive setting. I believe that this is what a lot of families do when they share an apple ID.
