Great photos Giradman!

I'd love to see an alligator or croc in the wild but with that many on the island I'd be wondering where the others are! :O

Hi Leelai - just have a small Panasonic 'point & shoot', so quickly snapped about 3 images w/ the camera pointed at the flying osprey and luckily one was good!

Well, the lagoon condo that we rented in 2011 had a large pond and probably a 10 ft. alligator lived there; often the gators emerge on a sunny day next to the water to 'warm up' - I was walking around the pond and came across the one shown below - quickly went the other way after taking a picture! Dave :)

Great pictures Johanna. Podersdorf looks like a nice lakeside town. (I googled...not far from your village). Boy, that lake is huge! Lots of good photo opportunities there:)

Great shots z! Looks like you are living in a beautiful area with animals, wading birds like that etc. I remember those fantastic winter shots too, not that long ago, and you guys now have beautiful Spring.

Susan & I are Netflix 'streaming' subscribers which I've not been using, so this morning I went through a bunch of pages of their TV offerings - NOW watching: Titanoboa - Monster Snake! This snake emerged after the disappearance of the dinosaurs (i.e. 65 million years ago) - below a quote from HERE about the snake - BOY, could have easily eaten a whole human family! Just a few pics from the web - if you're into snakes, then certainly a recommendation! Dave :)

I'm so glad these monster died out. But I definitely will take a look at this. Thanks.

Thank you!
Podersdorf is 10 minutes away from here (car). The lake is 36 km long, with quite a few villages around it. Come to think of it, Apetlon is the only village where you can't go to the lake, because of the nature area. :-)

Well, I returned to the osprey nest today - saw one of the adult birds perched, and then suddenly take to flight circling the nest and disappearing, probably off to go fishing? On a stroll around Kiawah Island near our condo today, some other sites - a great blue heron and a small alligator, probably about 3 feet in length, just a youngster (5-6 y/o?); current estimate is that there are 600-700 alligators in the wild on the island. Dave :)

Can you state where on Kiawah Island is this nest? Is it easy to get to? I assume you had a clear view of the birds as they left and returned to the nest? Can you see any chicks? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Me too! All the cherry blossoms are blooming on the streets of Vancouver! It is one of the most beautiful sights in the world!

I know! It's one of my favorite things about Vancouver. Right now you could walk or drive for miles with the trees lining both sides of the road.
