It is very beautiful! That's the kind of graffiti they have on lot's of buildings in Parksville, Van. Island.
Do you think someone elicits and pays for that kind of Graffiti ?
Whoever did that is a great artist! I LOVE IT!

These murals are commissioned and paid for. A good artist can earn several thousand dollars for a large mural.

I've been to Parksville and enjoyed all those murals on the building's around town.

Another interesting place to see some historically significant graffiti is Bedwell harbour at Pender Island, off the east coast of Vancouver Island, near Victoria. On the cliff walls above the harbour are the names of Canadian Warships, painted there during the Second World War.

Dog Lovers!

Well, related to my previous post on a visit to Virginia and several winery tastings - if you're visiting the southern part of the state, then stop by Chateau Morrisette and buy a few bottles of wine - when you pull the cork - a dog greeting will await you, as shown below - Dave :)

P.S. the owners are obviously dog fans w/ some of their wines bearing 'dog-related' labels w/ chein being common.

Is that written on the cork? If it is the cork you sure did a good job of making it show half perfectly!
Scifan, thanks for those photos of Pender Island! I've been to Bedwell Harbour a few times because it's the port of entry on a boat. And coming back from the San Juan Islands - well you know!

Hi Diane - the cork (synthetic one) came from that bottle, so yes printed on the surface - they have been using that 'Woof stamp' for years - below a pic of some of their wines (I also bought the recent Cabernet Franc release) - just put the bottle & cork on a living room chair and took a few pics and chose the best one.

Now if you like that one, there is a winery in the Napa Valley (California) called Frog's Leap - I've always enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc - when you pull the cork, the greeting below is seen - now FUNNY! You want to buy the wine just to see the cork! Dave :)

Sailors from ships at anchor in Bedwell harbour during the war painted their ships name on the rocks. Doing that today would be considered vandalism but those existing names are a part of the history of Pender Island and no attempt has ever been made to remove them.

If anyone visits Powell River, British Columbia you can see the world's largest collection of concrete ships in the world. Of all the concrete ships built during World War I and II, the ten at Powell River are the only ones still afloat. Here's a photo of some of them.
