Just bought the ipad 1 on ebay. Turned it on, charged it up and all it shows is the itunes logo with cable. Did I get a lemon or is there something I am misssing? Have charged it.

No, that's fine, you now need to connect to a computer running the latest version of iTunes using the connection cable that should have come with it. You then just follow the on screen instructions.
