I'm new to the iPad, but not to Apple. As i transitioned to digital, i ended all my magazine subscriptions. The primary reason I purchased the iPad is magazines. The thing about the iPad that I find confusing is newsstand. Is there a better way to search it? Does anyone know of any great mags out there? I already subscribe to the New Yorker and Reader's Digest (which I'm disappointed in, because they don't do landscape). Any others you might recommend?

Hi there and welcome.

I can't suggest any magazines as its hard to know what others like but you might want to try out Zinio App as well as it is similar to newsstand but with a different selection of magazines.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Hi Wisdom...I don't use newsstand, however, one of our long term members, KayKayKay-suggested to try the actual newspaper site to see if they carry an app for their magazine. Having read a few comments when Newstand was first released-it had a lot of issues with use. I have not tried it to assess myself to give your further info.

See this thread and KayKayKay's comment: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-general-discussions/53200-newsstand.html

If you have not done so, please take a look at the iOS 5.0 and 5.1:

Thanks for looking out! I did see and will peruse the app section. While its not like the hundreds of thousands of apps that re available for he iPad, there are over two thousand titles available in newsstand, I like the apps they are not broken down in any way that makes sense, like by interest. The New Yorker does a bang up job of what an iPad mag could be, like listening to the poets read their work, I'm almost convinced if not at least hopeful that there are other good mags out there as well. Maybe 'Newstand' merits it's own section?

I use the Zinio app. I thinks it's really good. I don't use newsstand.
