It's beautiful.. :-) iPad RD | London, UK | GC: sapphireoceans | Level 76 | If YOU won't fill your own sugar/dairy boat, I certainly won't ~ also, manners are free :-)

Just like you, Laura! :). Thanks. I think it looks beautiful, too.

I am, once again, feeling rather melancholy tonight. As children age, Christmas changes. As adults age, life changes. I'm not saying good or bad, just different.

Laura, I'm listening to songs by Squeeze. Do you know them? Pulling Muscles From A Shell, Black Coffee in Bed, Loving You Tonight.

I do know Squeeze. I like Paul Carrack a lot..

I'm looking through Squeeze's song list. There is one called "Christmas Day"!! I've never heard it before, but rather interesting that I see it right before Christmas!! :)

I totally hear you, as one of the aged children, Christmas is different.

Throw in divorce, drugs, alcoholics and that feeling you get right before you go completely insane, and I can officially declare that Christmas is bad, lol.. ;-)

Christmas is GOOD, it's some of the people on Christmas Day that make themselves bad!

My favourite Christmas songs are probably a rather long list, as is any list of mine containing my favourite music.. I actually listen to these songs all year round. lol..

But, I guess top songs for me would be O Holy Night (Mariah Carey's version literally does bring me to my knees, but for very different reasons than the song suggests). I also love the choir version from Home Alone.

Do You Hear What I Hear by Whitney Houston
Who Would Imagine a King - Whitney Houston (Preacher's Wife movie/soundtrack. You gotta listen to this song)
A Spaceman Came Travelling by Chris de Burgh
When a Child Is Born by Johnny Mathis
I Love the Lord by Whitney Houston (not sure if it's a Christmas song or a hymn, it's on Preacher's Wife OST. See that movie if you can. Amazing!)
Miss You Most at Christmas Time by Mariah Carey

Actually, Mariah Carey's entire Merry Christmas album is fabulous, it has a really great blend of traditional Christmas songs/carols, and some original tracks. It also combines some funky, upbeat "make you wanna dance at Christmas parties" tunes with a number of tracks that just ooze a very authentic gospel presence. The choir and harmonies are fabulous and provoke goosebumps without fail, and MC was truly in her prime when this album was released ---- almost twenty years ago!!!

Sorry, rambling..

Yes! I agree with you!!! You can feel the passion, sentiment, the story! You feel like you are right there in the middle of what they are singing about! Terrific list!!!

I love "Oh, Holy Night!" When I was in middle school, I was in the choir. We went to the Anaheim (California) Convention Center where middle and high school choirs performed a Christmas concert. The huge arena was filled with a multitude of choir ensembles. There was a section of parents, too, to listen!! For me, that was and will forever be, the absolute best performance of Oh, Holy Night EVER!!!!!! It was so powerful and moving, beautiful and touching. I will never forget that night.

Do you like to sing, Laura? Would others consider you a good singer? Do you like to dance/move when you hear songs? I love to sing! I move in rhythm at church to the music! And we aren't Baptist! Amen to that, Baptist friends!! :). I sing, finally!, when I am gardening or playing HD! I stopped listening to music when I was pregnant with my second born child, Addison. I felt nauseous when music was played. He just turned 18. I started to listen to music (my New Wave, Ska, Reggae 1980's awesome music 2 months ago. I dance, I move, I sing, I'm alive again! I was dead. But, now, I AM alive!! Weird (only because it seems weird!), I have my friends here on HD to thank for that!! Ok, now I'm rambling! I told you I was in a melancholy mood!!

Oh, beautiful, Carolyn! I love trees decorated like that: white lights and red ornaments, so pretty! And is that MY present there on the left in the back? Oh how kind! :D
