Ok. Thank. I'm having a hard time finding screws and bolts at a good price.

Oo I just had 4 screws but I advertised them about 5 mins ago. 2 are still there upon looking before typing this but for how long I'm not sure.

Greg buying stuff from your roadside shops...

Please forgive me if this has been covered in the past 600 or so pages. I attempted to search but came up with not quite the answer I am looking for.

I have a question about how the "Greg Purchases" actually work in this game. I have read several threads that mentioned that after a certain amount of time (some say a couple hours, some say a couple days...), Greg will come buy and automatically buy stuff that doesn't sell. That's a good thing, especially if you, like a noob :), price your stuff too high for the market. However, that leads me to my real issue:

Aside from finding out just how often/under what circumstances Greg buys stuff, I would also like to find out whether this auto-buy feature is a flat out cheating method. What I mean is, if I say, for example, set a price for 10 wheat at something ridiculous, like $1000, knowing full well that the item won't ever have the slightest chance of selling in the market, wouldn't I be awarded a bit unfairly, when Greg comes by and drops 1000 clams in my lap for my pitiful pile of wheat?

Everything has a max price you can list it for. Like for building materials you can only list for 270 for 1. That's why eggs and eggs and bacon are in the paper so much. Their max price is high considering how much time goes into making them, so they are the best thing to list if you want to wait for Greg to buy them.

Greg is great for making a few extra coins when you can spare the time, I often put up 10 bacon and eggs every couple of days knowing full well most people will not buy them and so I leave them out for Greg to buy and make full use of his service :)

HayDay has limits on how high prices can go and so 10 wheat can only go up for something like 36 coins. Just help reduce the anger of people by not advertising that product. Having a whole newspaper full of them is really really annoying! Hahaha xx

It's just took me 20 seconds to actually buy something for a shop... Ridiculous

I know :( it was actually working well this morning, I was stupidly awake at 6am so went on and just kept trawling through the sales, got loads of building stuff and pies at stupidly low prices with no wait, but at the mo, I have no patience to go on and sit like a numpty looking at the "loading" message. :(

I may be out of line saying this, since I am still quite the noob, but doesn't this kill the idea of real market values? With a "Greg will bail you out" mechanic, what is the point of advertising ANYTHING on the market? If there are max prices for items, no product values can ever rise and fall based on supply and demand. If Greg will always be there for you, the idea that this game can be played socially is barely an illusion.

Am I wrong in those opinions?

Personally, I am not a fan of spending a diamond just to remove a sale item. I think that a better way to punish people who advertise too high is to make them wait for the sale to expire (a day or two) and then allow the item's price to be edited or removed from the roadside shop entirely. I think having the Greg buyout option is a lousy solution to the issue of not running a good stall.

You are entitled to your own opinions but people who are new to the game and have items will want to price them at the highest as they need to save up money for the expensive production machines. Im level 35 and still saving for these machines and when i am doing, i put things at full price, if people need to buy them then fair enough, thats what they are there for but sometimes they are left there as no one needs them (supply and demand) and so Greg will buy them from me to take them off my stall. Its now only once every 2 days or so that he comes so i don't see a problem with it. If you dont like the feature then you can of course price your items at a price that will be snapped up, but then it will take you longer to save money to progress onto other machines. Also if you price your items low, then Greg will not buy from you as your items will hopefully already have been sold.

Max prices are a great idea, can you imagine the amount of items at stupid prices if there was no max? Materials will be sky high and no one will be able to afford to upgrade and then people will not sell or buy these products and hoard them all for themselves just to make sure they can upgrade.

Even with the 'Greg mechanic' in place, prices do rise and fall, some people will price high, some people will price low to sell things. You can always find bargains in the paper...you just have to search for them. :)

I often find that low level players have not yet realised that you can increase the price of items and so put them on at the price that pops up when you click the item to sell. These are obviously bargains but i cant help feel sorry for them when they are trying to progress in the game...i wish i could send a message to them and tell them to increase their prices a bit! Even when i find a low level player who has increased their prices, i try to help them out buying what i can as i know what it feels like to not have that much.

With just these two ideas, the whole game will not be fun anymore. Its a game, its supposed to be fun...can people not just let it be how the developers have imagined it to be?

Your suggestion to have the items expire is a great idea and personally, one that i have actually thought of before...especially when i do need something bought and it is not selling.
This is not an economics game, so try to be a little less serious about it, try to enjoy the amazingly fun game it can be (when the lag has gone anyway!!!)

Hope this doesnt sound too nasty, i just wanted to give another perspective to your ideas x

Poll Time! Worst possible way to waste a diamond... And GO!

My vote is speeding up a chicken (although if we're talking multiple diamonds it has to be the 14 I just wasted speeding up a raspberry bush... Groan...)

Using a diamond to spin again on the Wheel of Fortune truck. I never did it before and never will.

That truck is a waste of time. You could at least win 10x of the item instead of one. Then that game will be worth spending a diamond on.

Think of Greg as being the Gov. They help companies out all the time. Look at the auto industry and how they had help from the Gov to stay in business.
