Another new scam

Showing up in the mail today: a “final notice” to renew the warranty on our home. It was addressed to my wife, on a form with phony “handwriting” in the blanks for our address. The putative renewal term was 3 years, no price quoted, just a toll-free phone number…where presumably someone with a Russian or Nigerian accent would ask for our bank account credentials in a phishing attempt.

FWIW, our house was built in 1988, and the homeowner’s warranty expired 17 years ago. Be alert out there.
