Hay Day Discussion and Game Help Thread (NO FRIEND REQUESTS)

I was sooo excited about being able to start an orchorid.... Now i well not because i hate this idea of the trees dyeing.

Yeah, the fruit trees were a good idea, but the concept was poorly executed imho. If the developers were trying to defer users from making quick cash, they should have lowered the min/max price of each unit or should have introduced some other concept into the game (the need to reinvest in trees by spraying them or whatever). Reviving trees and then eventually cutting them down is just too much of a hassle. With that said, though, this game is still a lot of fun and I appreciate what the developers are doing.

On a side note, it's funny that we have fruit trees dying after a couple harvests, yet our pigs can survive the "baconator" :p

Exactly. I'd rather deal with dying trees opposed to having to buy new livestock.

I like the tree idea. The ax and saw are viable items again after clearing the original trees from the farm.

If you remove GC friends - do you still keep the road stand boxes that you can sell items in? I've added wayyy too many gc friends and would like to remove the inactive ones and keep only a few (around 10-15).

Good question. I've thought about doing this to before but was worried it would delete my stand space too. Maybe you should email the Devs and ask them. If you do email them let us know what they said.

I'm not very lucky with opening tool boxes. I haven't really figured them out yet. I think it's random. Some have suggested that there is an equal balance between locked and open boxes, but I have not found this to be true in my game play (my ratio is anywhere from 3-7:1).

My guess is that it will delete your stand boxes.

Somebody (not I) out in the interwebs created a Hay Day Wiki.

Hay Day Wiki

I published a page on the wiki regarding Eggs. This content could be at the very least a little helpful to the beginners of the game (maybe not, ha). I will follow suit with the other products in the game, as well as some additional content.

Eggs - Hay Day Wiki

Feel free to add your own content to the wiki :)

No, it really isn't an equal balance but for me it opens like once every 10 attempts of something. Also, I tend to re-click a person's farm until it opens >.< gues I'm stubborn lol :D

This spreadsheet is a good, simple tool to use for gamers. In fact, this spreadsheet inspired me create the additional spreadsheets that I will be posting on the wiki (and the conclusions here as well). At first I thought I would just contribute to the original, but there were a few changes that I implemented.

First, I am very detail oriented so I like to see all the calculations and raw numbers. For 90-99% of gamers, the content in the original spreadsheet will be preferred as it is a simple go-to guide on profits. For the 1-10% of gamers who like to delve a little deeper, hopefully the things I will publish in the upcoming days will be helpful, or at the very least interesting.

One of the things I am doing in my spreadsheets is taking apart the inputs for each unit of production. This will allow you to find the most efficient (and most profitable) way to run your little farm. Yeah, I may be getting a little TOO into this game, but I'm an Ag-Econ major so this is enjoyable. Hard to believe, but it's true.

At any rate, I won't be posting the actual spreadsheets here, just the conclusions/lessons (short, to the point, easy to implement). For your base goods (crops, livestock products), not much can be tinkered with, but with other products you can play around with the inputs a lot.

For instance, here's my conclusion for bacon and eggs :) "Gamers who are going to sell bacon and eggs in the mid 70's per unit and below should buy the bacon (at reasonable prices near base market price) and produce their own eggs. If gamers are going to sell bacon and eggs above the mid 70's per unit, they should buy both bacon and eggs."

Once again, this, and the spreadsheet can be found on the wiki.

On my farm I have just about ditched my chickens. I might use them from time to time, but mostly I buy my eggs. In fact, when I power shop, I will pick up about 70 eggs at base market price (5). Then, I will return to my farm and anywhere from 30-50 of them will be cleared to the NPC visitors for about 10 a piece. The rest will be used for production/inventory.

Hey, persistence pays. I usually forget to look for those tool boxes. Then when I do, I go on long streaks of locked boxes. Ho hum.

I can't find the question on the forum to quote, but someone earlier wondered why their items weren't selling when they were reasonably priced and advertised. I had an unusual experience with this yesterday.

I had anticipated I'd need a lot of bacon and eggs for a shipment, and once the boat arrived I had too many so listed several lots of 10 very cheaply, knowing there were plenty of bacon and eggs available, so my intention was to sell them not necessarily make a profit. Upon advertising most were sold immediately. Yet I realised hours later that the remaining units just refused to be sold, I'd list other items and everything around the bacon and eggs were sold straight away. Prior to Greg buying them a friend wanted them for her shipment, she was certain my bacon and eggs weren't listed in my stall. She was able to view my recently listed items but the bacon and eggs were missing.

I wondered whether after a period of time unsold items that Greg will buy are hidden to other buyers, explaining why a particular item just refuses to be sold before Greg turns up. Anyone else experienced this?

Bbarbii asked the question. I found it but don't know how to link to it in this forum app.

I have not experienced what you described above.
