Hi
My name is Vasu and I am a grad student in Houston. Im not only new to the forum, Im also very new to the world of Apple. The iPad 1 is a gift from my lab members to me and is my first apple product. I have been thoroughly enjoying it. However, being a graduate student I would like to be able to use my iPad in the best way possible. I have been looking at pdf readers and note taking apps, I have not purchased anything yet but I would like to use this forum to guide me with reviews and personal experiences with apps like these. I do have questions/troubles. Im guessing I am required to post them in a new post and not in the intro post...

Thanks for including me here.

Hello from Houston - welcome to the forum! :)

There are thousands of iPad apps so you may want to be more specific as to your needs - some popular ones for several of the purposes that you mention are Goodreader, Evernote, and iBooks, but there are so many other options - please review these in the Apple App store, one or several may be quite helpful to you! Good luck and enjoy the iPad!

Welcome to ipf,

For PDF's I use iannotate, which is an amazing program. It allows you to read PDF, highlight, make handwritten and typed notes on the PDF and even allows you to connect it to DropBox for online storage.

I hope you find this forum as informative and addictive as I do!

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

Please read the rules too!!
