Yes Raephu is right, there is no boost for all Opposite Element Dragon, Malachite has metal and plant elements, they are contradicting each other, if you put metal boost it will have negative effect to its plant element and if you put plant boost it will have negative effect to its metal element.
That is also why Opposite Dragon can not bred directly with two of its basic element, it should be one basic and one hybrid. So it's better with no boost, but of course you want to have your other metal dragons to have boost, so you just have to sacrifice your Malachite dragon than many

What are some good combos for the silver dragon? I have been trying cold and mine for about 2 months whenever I get time. Also I would like rust as a possible outcome because I need 13 more metal water hybrids for all my shrines to be silver.

Use Air+Mine, the fail is 5, 8, 10 and 14hrs.

If you want to get Rust as fail, you can use:

Chrome + Ice
Chrome + Iceberg
Fog + Mine
Fog + Steel
Mine + Rain
Quicksilver + Snow
Rain + Steel
Rust + Snow

But you'll have 11 possible result, from 5hrs to 48hrs.

Metal dragons are slow earner, the highest money earner for Metal Habitat is Copper and Forge, but still not much. Hope we can get limited dragon with metal element soon, so it can generate lots of money.

Sigh - I know it's only been three days but I'm up to about 12 fails and getting a bit fed up I really want to get on with breeding the dragons I still don't have. Still need current, malachite, plasma and dodo and haven't even started on the hunt for Olympus yet. I got sapphire on my 1st try but didn't get peridot at all last time despite trying every day- don't want this to be the same. On the plus side I have nothing to feed so working hard stockpiling food for my paper army if I ever get time to breed it........

Don't lose heart, you will get one, just keep trying. I always use the same pair of dragons but sometimes swap which cave or island I breed them in. I have found this more successful than choosing a different pair each time. Sending some magic wizard dust your way. ddca8

I got mine with rain and mine after a million cold / mine failures. I have a theory that you get better results if you use rare combos to breed with!
