Dragonvale Tips & Tricks! (NO Friend Requests!)

Ok. A little off topic, but ive been playing draw something for a while now and have accumulated lots of coins and colours. I just went to draw something (lol) and all my colours are missing! I remember someone here saying they had the same problem. How did u fix it?
PS/ nearly have 50mill dc in like 4 days :) very happy with myself :D

Love loved the burger drawing. It looked so good, it made me want one.

I always give back a gem for a gem, it may not be the same day but normally within a few days you should get one back from me. I try to keep my friends list small for this reason. I figure it takes some people longer then others depending on their friends list. I will say that there is one person on my friends list I have never received a gem from, but I haven't taken them off (I use them for party hats) and still send them gems.

The beauty of this game is you can play it so many ways. Receiving gems is just an added bonus and for me it does not effect how I play the game.

Just my opinion.

Happy Breeding

I'm going to join the Fletch School of Gems. I have almost 200 - generous - friends. And, while I keep track of gems received, there is no way I will ever catch up in this lifetime. My backlog is over 300 gems. I really don't want to appear anti-social, and I really like the custom of giving and receiving gems, but it's hopelessly lopsided.

Good Afternoon All. Got a crazy message re gems this morning that I cannot possibly do a thing with. I know I am only missing one gem. It was provided approximately 13 to 16 hours ago (from the time of this post). Was that you Jack?? Not sure what time you are sending them to me at the moment. If it wasn't Jack and it was someone else, please let me know so that I can return the favour. How on Earth we are supposed to figure problems like this out, I don't know. Please fix this BFS.

Bugger, I can't upload the pic but it is halfway across the screen and says 'Your Friends - Trinity' followed by a big blank space that is incredibly unhelpful!

Hey Snuggle, i gave you a gem today.. If you already have me in your return gem list, ignore this..

Mr Poppy, Birdmaestro, sir. I know you're back into work and not going to be around here very much anymore (yeah right), but I have a question. Now that Mag/Iron's have show themselves to be a better breeding combo for cash (in the long run), I have a question about spending gems. I'm going to keep 300 gems, but more than that seems a bit excessive, don't you agree? (Don't answer that. I know your view ;-) So if I'm receiving between 4 and 10 gems a day between family and Colosseum, what's the best way to spend them? Does it make a difference if I speed up breeding or hatching? Or if I speed up 1 breeding by 4 hours or 2 breedings by 2 hours? I mean 2 gems on an air/sandstorm is pretty self explanatory, but now there's a few more choices when you're working on a 4 hour time frame ...

Lay some wisdom on me.

Fletch...

It depends on how frequently you access your park. From your previous posts I understand that your frequency is perhaps four times a day about four hours apart? If so, I would recommend the following, starting with the last visit before you go to bed:

Visit #4: You will have 2 freshly bred eggs in your hatchery. I would spend 8 gems to accelerate 2 more in order to fill the hatchery, then fill both caves with breeding dragons.

Visits 1, 2 & 3: On your first visit of the day, you will have 4 eggs ready to hatch and 2 ready to go into the hatchery. I would settle for breeding 2 in the caves and having 2 incubating in the hatchery. On visits 2 & 3 you will have 2 eggs ready to hatch and 2 ready to move to the hatchery.

This gives you a yield of 15,000,000 gold coins a day from breeding at a nominal cost of 8 gems.

That's at least a point of departure for your brilliant mathematical mind to evaluate. You may well come up with a better scenario. Thanks for asking.

I am going back to work tomorrow (Monday). But I'll be around - probably lurking more than posting.

It's gotten quiet in here. Just hanging out while my dragons are breeding and there are no coins to collect.

My advice is to breed to get some panlongs. You're not going to get all gold shrines without them. Blazing + Mud, Fog + Lava. Put them in the EBI for a higher success rate (Only done a few hundred tests, but 2.5% in the NBC and 7% in the EBI).

I would also wait till you get the last 3 shrines so you can make a plan of attack that encompasses all of them.

If you're keen to get going, I would start knocking of Storm dragons to work on your Cold and Lightning shrines.

Thanks so much, i will use the EBI for panalongs and then the NBC for normal dragons :)

That's cool. So that's 300 00 Food (+ the slow burn of Pumpermelons and Blushrooms) a day to level up my dragons. Plus sweeping habitats, of course. Thanks for that sir.

Speaking of sweeping habitats, my ~4 hour trips to the Metal Habitat with 4 x Level 15 Magnetic Dragons netted me about 68K. So I'm losing 7K each time compared to an Earth Habitat filled with Panlongs (but I'm ahead of my Cold Habitats). If I check them 4 times a day I lose about 28K during the day if each Earth was replaced with a Metal. But I gain 50K overnight, so I'm 22K ahead overall. So Mag/Metal Habitats suit me better than Pan/Earth Habitats and they're way better than Cold Habitats. Might be time for a revamp, making the Blue Island a sparser maze Island and turning my Yellow Island into more of an alternative coin factory ...
