Dragonvale Tips & Tricks! (NO Friend Requests!)

Dear Segbert, can you explain the rationale behind "redoing" your islands. I have a new island being built ANSI as I'm setting up from scratch, would like to do so as well as possible. I have managed to breed two rainbows, and today bred them. It will cut down earning temporarily, but then I'll be in business. Bred one Panlong first try, but no luck with either sun, moon, sandstorm or frost fire. *sigh* I shall keep perservering. Learn a lot from you mob. Kim

I have never used a gem to speed up any process in DV.. Have been patient for a long while..
Am saving all those gems for any interesting update that DV release in future.. :)

Ugh wish I had that patience.... my gems never go above 50 unless I've bought some lol x

Wow, so you never used a gem to speed up that last hour or two. That's incredible. I could do that if I have no gems. . .but that's not the same hehe.

Me neither. At the end seems doubly pointless. I waited 46 hours, I can wait another 2, lol.

Wow some of you are hard core, waking up in the night to gather coins and switch out your breeding caves. I enjoy sleep too much to do that. Now I feel ok about how things seem to take me longer than a lot of people on here. Hats off to you die hards! :)

I would fall in that category and that's not hard core it's madness. So I just decided to do something about it. I cut my Panicked Panlong habitats in half, took down four Cold habitats filled with Frostfires and Bluefires - and brought eight rares out of the HC. I call the new island Sleepland. Those rares aren't fast, but they're steady and if you pick up once a day you're fine. I have a lot of design work tomorrow which I really enjoy. The golds will come, but on my terms. Madness.

Good Night,
Poppy

If your trying to figure out how much it would cost to get ur dragon from lvl 1 to 15 you would have to do 20x4 + 40x4 + 80x4 and so forth and so on

No, because to get level 2 it costs 5 x 4, hence 20.

Working it out is actually much simpler than listing of the numbers I did. Because it doubles every level, you can work out total food required to get to any level by doubling the amount it costs to jump the last level and subtract the cost of moving from level 1 to 2. So in this case it's twice what it costs to go from level 14 to level 15, minus the cost of going from level 1 to level 2. Or (163 840 X 2) - 20 = 327 660.

Another way of putting it is that to go up any level, you need to feed them the same amount of food they've ever eaten again plus another 20 food.

The exponential graph looks like this:

DragonvaleFood.webp

The food required to reach the lower levels doesn't even make a blip till you get to level 12.

So the math is.

20 + 40 + 80 + 160 + 320 + 640 + 1280 + 2560 + 5120 +

10 240 + 20 480 + 40 960 + 81 920 + 163 840

= 327 660

Treats.

Multiply by 50 to get a coin value at the exchange rate of 500 000 coins for 10 000 food.

= 16 383 000 coins to level a dragon to 15

Are you earning more than twice that in 5 hours? If not, then Love dragon is the way to go.

And I have to know ... do you earn more than twice that in 5 hours?

Hi all, I am a silent lurker spying on this forum to get great tips, I have added some ppl and hope you'll accept my friend request as the only DV friend I have is my sister! I'd love to look at other people's islands to get ideas as I'm not the most creative person (as you will see). Got a rainbow and moon but still trying for a sun, panlong, sandstorm, frost fire and a darn blue fire which I want more than anything but can't get aarrghhh!!

Cheers!! Nicole :o

Welcome to the forum Nicole! I think we've all been lurkers at some stage :) Blue Fire is a devil to get but such a cute baby. Good luck with all your breeding!

Like Poppy and Segbert, I belong to the Mad DV Addict Club...

Had just about filling my Earths with Panlongs (2/3 per habitat). Am working on breeding Love Dragon since its 3 elements. And also to change out my Cold Habitats with Bluefire and Frostfire. Luckily for me, I have at least 2 of each so I don't have to spin the roulette wheel hoping to get a Mr. Blue or Mr. Frosty.

Work is definitely interferring with my DV now.

You know, like everyone, I was shocked at what it took to get the gold shrines. But a much greater shock lies ahead. You mentioned your Pans are at level 19 (what is the optimized production rate at that level?). Here's what it takes to get to level 19 folks:

15-16: 81,920 x 4 = 327,680 treats
16-17: 163,840 x 4 = 655,360
17-18: 327,680 x 4 = 1,310,720
18-19: 655,360 x 4 = 2,621,440

Total: 4,915,200 treats

It takes $1,000,000 to produce 20,000 treats. So you will need $245,760,000 in gold coIns.

I guess you can never say you are DONE in DV!

Poppy

That's just frightening!

Hi Nicole, Welcome to the DV Addicts Club. I was also a lurker for a while and then started contributing to this Forum. The ppl here are all really nice and warm and helpful so I'm sure you can get great help here.

I have 3 bluefires but I cantremember the combos I used. For sure, I got the combos help from this crowd. Rainbow and Moon were the toughest for me but I see you already have them both.

Good luck with your breeding and if you wanna add any of us, I'm sure you'll be warmly received :)

Fortunately no. A degenerative condition that started early in life from hurling my body about with little regard for it. I had two prior surgeries in the same L4-L5 earlier but finally everything just collapsed. I was in a lot of pain for 3 years but reluctant to undergo a fusion because it's such a big operation with no guarantees. But I was just barely able to walk more than 2-3 blocks, hunched over, a mess. I'm literally 1" taller following the surgery. There's no pain, other than from the surgery, and I walk great. I feel like my life has been given back to me.

Thanks for asking - sorry for the off topic ramble.

Poppy

Glad to hear your healing Poppy, take it slow

This is my second comment on this outstanding information. In my opinion, the most importat thing that Adam said is ...constant Air and Sandstorm breeding. I think this is the best deal DV has to offer and the only way to generate the cash you need to buy the food you need to get the gold shrines. There are basically four approaches depending on if or how many gems you want to buy:

Conservative
You can do this free, albeit slowly. Put a pair of Sandstorms in one cave and a pair of Airs in the other. In 2 hours they will have incubated and you can place them in the hatchery. In 2 more hours you can sell them for $500,000. A relatively quick and absolutely free way to generate large sums of cash. If, as Adam says, you do it constantly.

Moderately Conservative
Wait one hour and pay one gem to incubate, wait two hours for egg to hatch free. One gem for the 500K.

Moderate Aggressive
Pay immediate two gems to incubate, then wait one hour and pay gem to hatch, or wait two hours for free hatch. Two or three gems for the 500K.

Aggressive
Pay immediate two gems to incubate and two gems to hatch. You've basically exchanged four gems for the 500K.

I use the Moderately Aggressive approach a lot: pay the gems to get the hatchery filled with eggs, then wait one or two hours depending on my mood and circumstances. Even though that's fairly accelerated (I'm an impatient guy), I find it to very cost effective.

Poppy

I agree sandstorm and air is the way to go, I check back every 2 hours collect coins and hatch 2 more eggs.
I am a bit conservative though and try not to use gems.

Having one helluva time getting my second panlong. I've tried lava/fog, panlong/plant, and mud/blazing in every possible combination what seems like a million times. Lots of wasted gems. Anyone have luck with any other combo? Dumb me sold the blazing I made my first one with.

Also, poppy, checked out your islands - loving the nursery island... Genius!

I got my second today with panlong10 and plant4 on my third attempt. It took me about 30 to get my first.
Good luck

for those who are after blue fire

yesterday and today i try fire + storm 3 times

yesterday the first time I tried the combo and got a 12hour Im afraid its a cold (I did that one time a week ago) and it turned out to be a bluefire

so the second time I do it again and 12 hours

third time....booom 48 hours not sure what it is

so i guess this combo is good for few days !

btw I tried this combo a week ago for like 5time always give me fire =.= so I switch to another combo
