Yes, that was deliberate though, the 'edited to add' ones have a space to show how you actually type/achieve them.

Well that is strange. They are right to the top right of where I am typing now on my iPad...outside the "writing box". They were just always there for me. The emoticons button above when replying doesn't work for me on my iPad though. Just took a screen shot...Will add it in a few minutes...

Hmm, maybe I never tried to do it in the separate window...even thought that's usually how I reply (go through thread and open a new tab for every reply I intend to write - I can then cut and paste to combine more quotes in one reply or close any I later see have been answered well/completely).
I just remember having the smilies showing but being unable to get them to actually work.

I couldnt get them to work on my iPhone either but thought that might have been just me, heh. Weird for a specific iPad forum that they don't seem to work on an iPad
I pretty much only ever get on here/reply when I am on the PC because otherwise it's just too hard!

Yeah it's bit of a bummer. I use my pad for everything so it would be nice but not a barrier

Thanks will give it a shot. The only reason i have emoticons on at the moment is because I am using the website as opposed to the Ipad app for the forum and this way it looks like i am working while at work heheheh

See, for me that face is just text (and it uses the nose dash)

And on mine but are mine showing up as emoticons or keyboard strokes? That is the question

Whereas this one shows up as a yellow smiling face and I'd bet you didnt use the nose dash.

It appears that some are and some are not (y) (thumbs up)

These are also just text for me but I'd guess they are just not the correct format for that emoticon (I don't know what they should be either)

It's actually very good but i am on the ipad and not the iphone. Not sure how you all manage DV on the iphone, i take my hat off to you all, it would be very difficult!
The app is Very quick and simple. I guess it just doesn't have all the normal capabilities for emoticons and such. I now know I can get the smiley faces so you can all expect plenty of those in the absence of any others!

yes, it shows up on mine. No nose seems to work best for me, haha.

haha, yeah, I'd say it adds another layer of difficulty on the iPhone but *shrug* I'm addicted and (as I've mentioned to GT500Girl before) I don't really know any better as I've never used an iPad.
