Dragonvale Tips & Tricks! (NO Friend Requests!)

How long does the leap year dragon take? I just got my first 48 hours, have no suns or moons etc yet.

YAY YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Finally go one on my 15th attempt!!! I used love/cold every time and wasted 53 gems in the last 5 hours. I also got 4x scorch, 3x poison, 4x flower and 3x firefly for my efforts - luckily they were all short breeds!!
The 48hr that I had brewing (if you remember that far back) turned out to be a moon so I'm STILL waiting for a to come my way! Oh well, I'll keep at it with the same combo as, so far, it's given me ALL my rares!
As for me saving for my gem tree I might have to wait a bit longer as I'm now down to 6 gems!

Ok so get this right, i go on dragonvale after not being on for a few days and decide to breed a seaweed and firefly and out pops a golden egg, use gems to incubate and WALAA! some random awesome looking Leap year dragon that id never seen before =D

1st off congrats to everyone that got the new LYD and if you have not keep at it it's only a matter of time and you'll have it. 2nd I'm just wondering do you think they released just the LYD or did they bring a secret one in as well, I'm just asking cause they dont always release just one. Hopefully it's just the LYD but if not let us know. Breed on!!!!

Got my second moon.
3rd attempt at LYD with Love/Snow gives me a Storm. 2 more attempts in the morning. Watch this space.

From the Wiki, seems you can only breed one only (you can probably still buy one at 2500 gems...)
Any combo which worked for the 2 rares rainbow and sun seem to work for the LYD.
Ahhh and re a secret dragon, seems they re-edited the ghost dragon LOL.

Isla Verde - Home of our Plant, Water and Air Habitats
After checking in at E'lys Island, a popular first choice destination amongst our floating archipelago is Isla Verde.
At complete odds to the clean lines and orderly sparseness of E'lys Island, Isla Verde is a lush overgrown island, jam packed with life. We have left it as untouched as possible, keeping our impact on the environment to a minimum. The cozy Dogens used by the staff are low impact housing camouflaged to blend in with its surroundings and the few paths on the island are only large enough to transport food from the farms to the dragons and are made from stones found in the Islands streams. The niceties have been sacrificed here, no restaurants or accommodation, in order to keep the island as close as possible to it's natural state. Wear your hiking boots.
Isla Verde is home to 3 different types of dragon habitats and the fauna is thusly rich and diverse. Plant and Water habitats are obvious ones on this island, and in keeping with this earthy environment they are teaming with green and brown dragons. We also house our air habitats here, and the colourful countenance of the dragons in this habitat provide the only counterpoint in this lush green island. And this close to the hatchery it is often easy to spot the newborns.
We built the Hatchery on this Island, as close as possible to the magical breeding cave, so that moving the eggs can be quick and safe. Whilst getting too close to the breeding cave is strictly forbidden (you do not want to approach dragons in the throws of rapture!) you have a good view from the hatchery itself.
A Fountain of Youth is also here amongst the greenery, returning some of our elderly dragons to a more youthful appearance and filling them with vigour. The Fountain only works on the dragons though, so don't get any ideas.
The only obviously out of place construction on the island is the Air Boost, kept at an out of the way nook on the edge of the Island to harness the air power from the surrounding atmosphere. Getting to the tall blue spire can be a bit of trudge, but the view of the rest of the islands from it's peak is breath taking*.
*Literally. With the "weather vane" at the top of the Air Boost harnessing the air, anyone who gets to close to it can experience side-effects such as light headedness, a fugue state and judgement impaired euphoria and staying longer than 5 minutes at the top of the Air Boost is not recommended.
