Deleting Photo's not working since uploading iOS 5.1.

Recently uploaded the iOS 5.1.1 version and now for some reason the "Red" delete button at top left of window does not highlight as the copy & share does. Used to select with the check mark and the delete button would highlight and would
selected photo's.
Any ideas,
