Are you using the apple calendar on the iPad? Or did you install another? Guess it doesn't matter. My google calendar on the Dell laptop syncs with my iPhone and iPad.
To start simple: across the top in the an strip...touch month. A month page will appear.
Touch on a day, a pop-up will appear. Fill it in and touch done. Your entry should appear on that day.
