Great pics, Hayles! They are beautiful and certainly a placed we'd like to visit.

I didn't know that this thread existed, very nice thread you started here, Richard!

Thanks Skimonkey. It's nice to see the thread waking up. I will have to look out some more photos.

Will do-some of the new and old. Just really neat how they have replicated some of these famous sites from around the world!

Great pictures Hayley, really enjoyed watching them, and you asked Gab a great question regarding Las Vegas, made me laugh

Let's keep this thread going.

I was a Hyde Park Corner in London on Saturday. I wanted to see the Bomber Command Memorial which will be opened next month by H M the Queen. Robin Gibb was a leading supporter and fund raiser for this long overdu memorial.

Hyde Park Corner is becoming a focal point for military memorials.

Thanks for your responses leelai, Hayles, and Good karma.

Robin Gibbs' widow will take his place at the opening ceremony on 28th June. I read that, although 6,500 Will be attending, one of the bomber crew survivors won't be there. I'm not sure whether he wasn't invited, or couldn't afford the fare and accommodation. Whatever the reason, it's wrong. He would love to attend.

After the opening, I plan to revisit an take photographs of the various memorials at Hyde Park Corner. I will post my photos.

Here are some photos of an English village.

It's Cudham, near Biggin Hill. I was there with a group of friends for a pub lunch at the Blacksmith's Arms.

I do like the way in which part of the church graveyard has been left as a wild meadow.

This type of wooden memorial is not used now. Several of it's type have been listed by English Heritage.
