My company is planning on increasing business usage in an attempt to become completely paperless. The iPad of choice is the older model with Wi Fi and 3g. Difficult question; In general is there a specific problem or defect to look for if I buy a used model. I know that so many of Apples customers are eager for the "latest and greatest" that there are no doubt some good buys out there. Any thoughts?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

I would not go with the original iPad at this point purely as it only has 256MB of ram the ipad2 has 512MB and the new iPad 1GB. Have a look for dints of any sort, if the iPad has been dropped it could cause internal damage. Others will have other info on this.

There should be some bargains out there but make sure you look to see if Apple has any refurbished models and they will come with a year's warranty.

The iPad is such a personal device that your chances of getting a good, used iPad is at best 50/50. The iPad is built so well that they stand up very well to daily use. I have the original IPad, I have tried to keep it safe from scratches but it happens. If you want to protect your company's assets by saving a little.bit of money, you can go Apple.com and check out refurbished iPads. They are like new and qualify for Apples warranty. Here is a link:

I own a refurbed iPad 2 and it works flawlessly. I have the bargain hunter's supreme sense of happiness: I didn't pay full price!
