Hello

I work for a k-12 district. They have purchased ipads and iPods for classroom/student use but won't allow them to connect to the wireless Internet because of the security risk. They are worried about the risk of student having access to information to information about our network/proxy etc in the settings. Is there a way to block users from being able to get into the settings? Thanks!

In settings you can enable restrictions with a passcode. You can limit access to the Internet, not allow app installations, etc but I am not certain that there is a way to inhibit someone from accessing wifi settings.

You can push out wi-fi and other settings with an encrypted configuration policy with the IPCU(iPhone configuration utlity). You can also install "parental controls" to control students download of music, movies etc. An encrypted configuration profile is required to hide all of the settings from someone with notepad. You can make it so the profile can't be removed or so it can only be removed with use of a private password. You can read about it in the Enterprise Deployment Guide, available for download on the Apple site.
