Hello and welcome to the forum!
You need to provide much more information for us to address your question(s). First, what iPad do your own - current ones have a 5 MP camera which is a resolution adequate to produce an 8 x 10 print? Second, where are the origins of the pics you are trying to print, i.e. from the iPad's camera, downloaded from the web, added via iTunes from your camera? And third, provide information on the printer you are using and the method of transfer (assume Wi-Fi)?
Now just some basics on pixel image size & printing - the number of MP (megapixels) in an image is critical to the quality of the print - pixels/inch transfer to dots/inch (PPI vs. DPI) - for a printed image, the standard is 300 DPI (half that will provide an OK print); as seen from the chart attached, a 5 MP image from the iPad's camera will provide an excellent 5 x 7 inch print and a good 8 x 10 inch print (again I'm assuming you mean images taken by the device's camera?) - BUT, you'll need an app that will allow you to adjust the pixel density to achieve the print size desired - I'm going to stop here to let you respond - Dave
