TUAW has the heads-up on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2011 Guide, which is currently free to download in iBooks until June 14. The guide features the best trends, destinations, journeys and experiences for 2011, including Lonely Planet’s top 10 countries, regions, and cities to visit this year. Some of the selections seem a bit random, but interesting reading all the same. The 212-page guide has an interactive map of the world that you can click on to take you directly to the pages about the destination you’re interested in. There’s also a Top Travel Lists section, with lots of different useful and informative lists, such as “Best Secret Islands,†or “Best Places for Dance Fever.â€
Even if you’re not planning on going to any of the featured destinations this year, it’s actually just a really lovely guide to browse on your iPad, jam-packed with information and some gorgeous photos. You can always look longingly at your favourite destination and plan to treat yourself next year!
The guide is currently topping the free books chart in iBooks, so it’s easy to find and download.
