Hi, I don't understand why sound mutes on my apps without previous warning although sound on videos, music and settings does play.

It's the second time now

Maybe you are accidentally hitting the mute switch on the side of the iPad? It's very easy to move it without realizing it. Try sliding it to the opposite side from where it is and see if that helps any.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Marylin,

Well I am pretty familiar with iPad and tried that fix several times to no avail. Hard reboot did nothing either. This problem happened once and suddenly, one day, the sound came back on apps

I have had that happen to me also, I will close the app completely. Do the four finger swipe up or double tap the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press one of these apps until they start to jiggle and red minus signs will appear above them all. Press all the minus signs, this will close them, not delete them. It's a good idea to do this regularly just to keep them all running smoothly, I do mine every night. I hope this will help you.

Hi Leelai,

Thanks for that tip which I didn't know : I just did as you suggested and rebooted iPad.......to no avail ! Sorry, the sounds of Apps are not back yet. However, video sounds do work fine and sound samples in settings also.

I guess that a real hardware failure would have ANY SOUND turned off but that's not the case !

It's a total mystery !

How about bring up your multi task bar and swipe it as far to the right as possible and this will bring up another sound slide with a brightness feature also. Have a look there and see where that slide is.
