lock iPad rotation from app

Hello, does somebody know how to write an application which prevents UIView changes when iPad rotates ?
What I mean is: suppose your iPad is configured to allow views to be adapted to iPad orientation. Well, my application should ignore this setting, and should force orientation locking.
How to ?

Could you not use the orientation lock switch on the iPad - which could either be the switch near the volume control or - depending on your version of the operating system iOS - be accessed via a 'right flick' of the multi-task bar - itself accessed by a double-press of the Home button?

This would lock the orientation of the iPad and would over-ride any app control of orientation.

This is not the point. What I mean is: how can an application lock the screen rotation INDEPENDENTLY on the switch or multi-task bar settings.
