Does anyone know how to put smiley type symbols from the keyboard. Using iPad model 1

They are called emoji apps. There are loads of them. Free or paid. Or if you are on the website, you can add smileys when posting.

If you go to the App Store and search for 'Emoji' you'll see several apps that can generate them. Then you can cut and paste them to wherever you want to.

I got the emicom symbols anyway from app store. They are great
