Jailbroken iPad 2 restore using windows virtual machine, is it safe?

Hi guys

I need to restore or un-jailbreak my iPad 2, I've read up the procedure but have a problem. I'm running Ubuntu with win7 virtual machine, is it safe to plug in and hit restore from a virtual machine? What can go wrong in this of type of setup?

I used a friends PC for the jailbreak but now don't have access to one, I'm a novice but my software version shows 5.1.1
