Jailbreaking idiot

I am completly sold on jailbreaking my ipad, however i am completly lost on where to even begin. Should i pay someone to do it or is there a walk thru process for dummies like me? Can i jailbreak my ipad from my work computer or do in need to do it from my laptop that i sync my ipad with at home? I guess i am more worried that i will screw something up in the process. there is mulitple techniques to break, which one is best to use for dummies like me. Thanks for anyone patience that wishes to guide a lost soul like me lol!

mine is the first generation, 64g, 3g wifi. i followed you thru the about stage after that i didnt know what else you would be looking for. Sorry about being to ignorant to hacking, but i really am looking forward to working my way thru this (with some help) and seeing the potential this thing really has!
