ITunes Freezing up

I've had my mini2 for a year now with very few problems and those few are associated with updates. I use the mini for accompaniment tracks (simi pro singer here) and use iTunes on my Windows 10 computer. Been having great success until the last windows update so I'm also working the issue with them also. When I plug the mini2 into the usb port Itunes freezes up. My salvation has been my old rundown laptop which is still running Windows 7.. Been on this problem for 2 days now and have jumped through every hoop I can find. Most of the threads here are old so I'm going to kick this problem over again and see if some new ideas come crawling out from under the rocks.

First thing I'd suggest is updating iTunes to the latest version.

From memory that's 12.5.1.17

If that doesn't help it might be worth uninstalling iTunes from your computer and reinstalling. That won't affect your data, btw.

I assume your Windows 10 computer has only USB2.0 and 3.0 ports. Either should be OK, but connect directly and not through a hub.

That's about all I can think of right now.
